Cannot connect to SMB share, hostname listed in host_allow

Hello everyone,

I have setup a private SMB share for myself and created a list of allowed devices in Hosts Allow (laptop, phone) using the hostname. However I cannot seem to connect to it. I receive an error on my MacBook Pro saying "There was a problem connecting to the server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Check the server name or IP address and then try again. Contact your system admin if issue persists." Using IP addresses instead of hostname works fine. I tried to find a solution online and added...

Is there a guide somewhere on how to bind my FreeNAS server to Azure AD? I'm pretty savvy with LDAP and AD and I have bound FreeNAS to a local AD domain controller before.

FreeNAS 11.3 / OpenLDAP - How to troubleshoot?

Hi,

this is my first post here. I am kinda bumbed right now because I can't find any resource on how to troubleshoot a not working ldap connection.

What I have done so far:

- getent passwd | wc -l

This returns 32 users. The same amount of users I had after a fresh install. So no luck there.

- ldapsearch -D cn=admin,dc=example,dc=com -W
This works without '-h' and returns all objects stored. So ldap.conf seems to be fine.

- Rebuild directory service cache.
No change. Still 32 users.

Hello,

last week i updated FreeNAS from 11.3-U2.1 to 11.3-U3.2 and soon i found out that smb shares stopped working and no Domain User is able to access the network shares. After Checking the Webfrontend i found the status for Directory Server failing.

I Checked following settings:
- DNS and if it works
- Domainname
- Service Account
- Password
- ROOT Certificate for AD LDAP
- TLS Settings (tested with and without TLS)
- Time
- Reachablility of Domaincontrollers from shell

Hello,
I have FreeNAS version FreeNAS-11.2-U8 configured with sshd/smb with AD integration.

I got a big security issue because I just discovered that any AD domain user can login to the server and list/read all files on / ...

I got several questions:
1/Is this standard FreeNAS behaviour?
(perhaps I misconfigured something...)

2/How to disable SFTP...

User migration

Hello,

First of all, apologize if I am wrong in the sub-forum to resolve this question.

We currently have a server with FreeNAS 9.3. Now we are going to mount two new servers with the intention of replicating between them. These servers are going to go with version 11.3 at the moment.

First of all I would like to know how I could migrate the user database without having to migrate all the configuration from FreeNAS 9.3 to FreeNAS 11.3.

Secondly I would like to know if it is possible that...

Hi all,
After spending my entire weekend on this reading posts, docs and even trying some of the freenas alternatives, I'm posting here for the first time
While I've been running Freenas for years, I consider myself as an novice user since besides upgrading the version every once in a while I haven't really done anything with it.
My setup is a HP Microserver (Gen7 N54L) with 16GB of RAM & 2 x WD red 2TB in a raid 1 setup, Freenas version is FreeNAS-11.3-U3.2 .
I only use it as my...

Hello Everyone, thank you in advance for your help.

I have a freenas box which was disconnected for several months due to a move. I got it all hooked back up but now I'm unable to authenticate. On the console I get the login prompt, when i enter a username i do not get prompted for a password. It ends up timing out after 300seconds. Ive tried to ssh into the box, it looks like its going to work, i get the prompt for the fingerprint, then..... it times out.

The only clue I have is when I...

Hi folks,

So I have three user accounts, two of which randomly lost their connection and now access is denied. I have done no updates or maintenance to the box in ages. The third connection, mine, still works fine. All user settings are identical.

Tried remapping them on the other two machines - access denied.

Thanks for your patience.

Replication NO GO

I am trying to setup a replication task from freeNAS 11.3-U3.2 to a GhostBSD (20.04) pool.
The freeNAS system cannot see the pool on the GhostBSD computer. I can ssh
both ways to each computer from the command line without entering a password.
When setting the destination computer I ger CallError [EFAULT] AuthenticationException
('Authentication Failed'). I can PULL from the GhostBSD system but not PUSH from
freeNAS. I believe the steup is broken on freeNAS. The documentation is sparse in...

Upgrade 11.2->11.3 broke my LDAP

So I recently updated my testserver to the latest FreeNAS version 11.3-U3.2.
User authentification and mapping for NFS users is done via LDAP and this stopped working.

First problem, the certificate had been expired and the upgrade progress renamed it from cert to cert (migrated for ldap ....), which might sound like a good idea, but it looks like the nslcd can't handle such a name. Or FreeNAS should have put quotes around the name.
Updated the certificate and...

"Export certificate" option missing from CSR entry

I used the admin UI's System / Certificates / Add to make a certificate signing request (CSR) for my FreeNAS server. I followed instructions in 7.16. Certificates. My intention is to export this, and sign it using my private Certificate Authority which I created using OpenSSL. The CSR appears in the Certificates list. I click on the (…) (Options) for that entry, and a menu appears.

Hi,
A general question, does FreeNAS support oAuth with AD for logins?

We make use of a product called OpenText Directory Services, for SSO to applications that can support oAUTH, we would like to do the same with FreeNAS if supported?
